August 2009: Aerial of the NJ Turnpike where it crosses over Hightstown-Cranbury Station Road prior to the start of construction. 5/27/11: An aerial view of the NJ Turnpike with Hightstown-Cranbury Road crossing under it; the contractor has removed brush and trees (clearing & grubbing) in preparation for the new outer roadway construction. 6/8/12: The contractor has constructed piers for the bridge extension and is erecting structural steel onto the piers. 6/8/12: In this photo, the contractor is working on a section of the southbound outer roadway, north of Brick Yard Road. 9/19/11: The contractor has begun work on the bridge lane extension at the NJT bridge over Hightstown-Cranbury Station Road. 6/8/12: A close up photo showing the work to expand the NJ Turnpike bridge over Hightstown-Cranbury Station Road. 9/14/12: The contractor has finished erecting steel onto the piers. Next step will be to start to construct the bridge’s deck. 1/18/13: An aerial view of Contract 701 showing deck construction for the NJT bridge extension over Hightstown-Cranbury Station Road. 1/18/13: Close up view of the NJT over Hightstown-Cranbury Station Road bridge. 1/17/14: Traffic was switched to the completed outer lanes at this bridge in order to construct the inner part of the bridge deck. 5/5/14: Traffic was switched back to the inner lanes after the bridge deck was reconstructed. 8/18/14: Close up of the nearly completed NJ Turnpike over Hightstown-Cranbury Station Road after the traffic was shifted back to the new outer lanes within all the Widening areas. 4/27/11: Prior to beginning construction, the contractor removes railroad tracks belonging to Conrail on Hightstown-Cranbury Station Road. The reconstruction of Hightstown-Cranbury Road due to the widening will include restoration of the railroad tracks. 4/27/11: In order to prepare for the widening construction, the contractor must clear the work area of brush and trees on the NJ Turnpike's Right-of-Way (ROW). Here the beginning of the clearing for the NJTA ROW can be seen on Hightstown-Cranbury Station Road. The bridge for Cranbury Station Road can barely be seen in the background through the trees. 3/26/11: This is a preconstruction photograph of Cranbury Station Road before the bridge where it crosses over the NJ Turnpike. This road will be realigned with the new bridge structure that will be built in contract T869.120.701. The new bridge will be longer to accommodate the wider NJ Turnpike. 5/27/11: An aerial view of Cranbury Station Road showing the cleared work area. The white house seen in the picture in the upper left is the same one in the prior photograph. 6/8/12: The 701 contractor has constructed bridge piers for construction of a new Cranbury Station Road bridge over the NJ Turnpike. 9/14/12: The contractor has installed steel for the Cranbury Station Road bridge deck. 1/18/13: The structural steel for the Cranbury Station Road bridge has been installed. Next, the contractor will begin to construct the bridge deck. 10/22/13: The contractor built the new bridge next to the existing bridge and will realign Cranbury Station Road with the new structure and shift traffic over once the new bridge is ready. The old bridge will then be demolished. 8/18/14: Cranbury Station Road completed. 4/27/11: The top soil is stripped and stockpiled prior to roadway excavation. This photograph shows the east side of the NJ Turnpike at Cranbury Station Road. 8/18/14: A view of the new outer lanes with traffic and the inner lanes under reconstruction. The Widening Program is anticipated to be completed and all lanes open before Thanksgiving 2014.
